CNN reports that an Amazon cargo plane overran the runway while landing at Miami International Airport on the afternoon of June 6th, colliding with several vehicles and catching fire, producing thick black smoke. At least five people were killed. The incident led to the closure of some runways and taxiways at Miami Airport. The nearby Orlando International Airport (MCO) subsequently received several diverted flights originally bound for Miami to assist in evacuating affected passengers.
Orlando Airport urged diverted passengers to contact their respective airlines to arrange alternative travel and asked passengers to remain patient during the disruption to airport operations.
